Veteran actress Waheeda Rehaman has been chosen for the NTR National film award for the year 2006 for her contribution to the Indian film industry.
The three member committee comprising – K.B.Tilak, Jayasudha and A. Surya Narayana picked Waheda Rehman for this prestigious NTR Award constituted in memory of the legendary Telugu Film Actor and Ex Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.
Waheeda Rehman was born on May 14, 1936 in Hyderabad.
She made her debut at the age of 13.

She will be presented the NTR award, which consists of a Citation and Rs 5 lakhs in cash.The award will be presented to Waheda at the Nandi Awards function to be held this month at Hyderabad.
