Legendary Telugu movie actor, Uppu Sobhana Chalapathi Rao popularly known as "Sobhan Babu" passed away in the early hours of March 20th Thursday.

He was slipped from stairs while he was returning from his daily yoga and subsequently admitted to Chennai Apollo Hospital where he took his last breath.

The actor was 71 years old and is survived by three daughters and one son.

This "Soggadu" of Telugu Film Industry was Born on 14th January 1937 at China Nandi Village of G.Kondur Mandal in Krishna District,Andhra Pradesh.

Sobhan Babu made his debut in films with "Daivabalam" but the first film that hit the screen was "Bhakta Sabari".He was brought to lime light with the box office hit film "Veerabhimanyu".His film Manushulu Maarali ran for 25 weeks, which was a record-breaking achievement in those days.

One can know the extent of his talent and fan following by the fact that he had received Film fare Award four times, Nandi Award five times, AP Cine Goers Award eight times of which he bagged the award consecutively for six years from 1970 to 1975.

Although, Sobhan Babu was a widely acknowledged actor down south, he was never in favour of any of his children pursing acting as a career.He kept himself away from the film industry for the last 13 years and kept himself busy in real estate business.

There were rumors that he got an affair with the Ex Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Ms Jayalalitha and is also having a daughter with her.

His popular films include Bhakta Sabari, Manushulu Maarali, Sampurna Ramayanam, Kannavari Kalalu.Ramudu-Parasuramudu,Soggadu,Swayamvaram,KarteekaDeepam,Soggadu, Illalu, Jeevana Jyothi.
