Nagarjuna’s films have good music. Or least one expects good numbers from his films. Whether they fall into the melodious genre or the popular mass category, there are quite a few expectations when a film of Nagarjuna is due for release. This time, he has chosen to give Raghava Larencce a break as a music director. Already, he is director-cum-choreographer of the film. Now, he has added a new feather in his cap by taking to composing the music for his films.

Given the fact that he has been a choreographer forever does impact his new-found vocation. So, we have a fair share of mass numbers, to cater to the fans. Then, there are a couple of class numbers, to cater to the more mature and demanding audience. Also, Larencce has got the likes of Shankar Mahadevan and Hariharan to sing for him in his debut attempt. In all, it is a good pick when you are browsing around for new releases.

Su su suriyanna:(Singers: Shankar Mahadevan,Lyricist: Chinni Charan)The first track of the CD is a quintessential number that you can expect in a Tamil film with a huge star in the lead. So, here, we have Nagarjuna being wished a Happy Birthday by his locality people and so it has a strong Tamil influence to it. With Lawrence composing the music, it is only natural for him to include a track that has lots of beats to make Nagarjuna dance to his tunes. Shankar Mahadevan gives the playback for this number and you can only imagine the energy he can infuse even into a routine number.

Intha andanga unnave:(Singers: Harish Raghavendra,Lyricist: Chinni Charan)This is a melodious number with Anushka and Nagarjuna. The look of the song is beautiful and so is the playback by Harish Raghavendra. He sings with a muture voice that is required for someone like Nagarjuna. This too has a slight Tamil feel to it, but the lyrics make it thoroughly enjoyable. A soft and simple number, it is rather pleasing on the ears.

Mudde pettu:(Singers: Harish Raghavendra, Saindhavi,Lyricist: Chinni Charan)With this, it is back to the mass genre. The lyrics too are teasing and so is the tune. You do feel a sense of déjà vu as it sounds familiar, but goes well with the overall tone of the film.

Yedo undile:(Singers: Suchitra, Vishwa,Lyricist: Vishwa)Vishwa and Suchitra sing the most Westernised number of the lot. It has been composed to feel like a remix number and Suchitra carries it off really well. Lyricist Vishwa has also given the playback for this song and does the DJ mix well. It’s one colloquial song that could make its way to the DJ console at a lounge bar, if ever the city took to having a Telugu hits nite.

Neekai nenu:(Singers: Hariharan, Rita,Lyricist: Chandu, Madhu)This one has Hariharan crooning for Nagarjuna. A number that will surely make you feel as you have always known it. Larencce does not try anything new with this one, but at the same time, it manages to register as it is another romantic inclusion.

Dada puttista:(Singers: Shankar Mahadevan,Lyricist: Chinni Charan)Like in Mass, their first film together, this song too is similar to the title song of Mass. It sounds like the Mass too as it is sung by Shankar Mahadevan yet again. So, the CD ends with this energetic rendition that has been tossed in just for Nagarjuna’s fans.

For a first attempt, Larencce does rather well. But given that he belongs to the industry and has been making stars dance to his steps, it is not surprising though! All in all, it’s an album you won’t regret shopping for.
